I Want to Read

  1. Long Journey Home: A Guide to Your Search for the Meaning of Life by Os Guinness - 2 years
  2. It's Not How Good You Are, Its How Good You Want to Be: The World's Best Selling Book by Paul Arden - 2 years
  3. Black Postcards: A Rock & Roll Romance by Dean Wareham - 2 years
  4. In Praise of Idleness: And other essays (Routledge Classics) by Bertrand Russell - 2 years
  5. Against the Day by Thomas Pynchon - 2 years
    20% off at Wegmans!!!
  6. Guided by Voices' Bee Thousand (33 1/3) by Marc Woodworth - 2 years
The DVD documentary "Watch Me Jumpstart" sold me on this record. I love Robert Pollard.
  7. My Bloody Valentine's Loveless (33 1/3) by Mike McGonigal - 2 years
Kevin Shields is an obsessively interesting personality. This record has been the slowest of burners for me. "When You Sleep" and "Sometimes" are two of my favorite songs of all time.
  8. Halting State by Charles Stross - 2 years
    Stefan recc'd it.
  9. Infinite Jest by David Foster Wallace - 2 years
Kiss 3-4 months of my life goodbye. A challenge.
  10. The Zenith Angle by Bruce Sterling - 2 years
Dude seems totally nuts and hyper-literate. Concept of this one seems cool, spy style novel.
  11. The Three Musketeers (Penguin Classics Deluxe Edition) by Alexandre Dumas and Tom Gauld - 2 years
The new cover reeled me in. Probably will buy this version.
  12. The Man in the High Castle by Philip K. Dick - 2 years
Another 'D' author. Good place to start in the canon of Dick, I've heard.
  13. Gilead: A Novel by Marilynne Robinson - 2 years
Heavy, existential. Pulitzer winner. Gonna try it.
  14. What We Talk About When We Talk About Love by Raymond Carver - 3 years
I started this. Read a couple stories on a decrepit copy from the library. For when I'm feeling like a hippie again and loving everything and the world.
  15. The Ice Storm: A Novel by Rick Moody - 3 years
I saw some of the movie. He's a Believer approved author, so it's worth a shot.
  16. Hardboiled Wonderland and the End of the World by Haruki Murakami - 3 years
Another Murakami joint to read eventually.
  17. Ghost Wars: The Secret History of the CIA, Afghanistan, and Bin Laden, from the Soviet Invasion to September 10, 2001 by Steve Coll - 3 years
Gardine said it was solid, but he likes thick nonfiction books. Still, covert spy shit is my bag, so it might be good for winter time when the nights are long.
  18. Then We Came to the End: A Novel by Joshua Ferris - 3 years
I don't know if I am ever going to pick this up. It was on NYTimes top books of '07, but it has that smell of Office humor that's grown a little old and familiar on me.
